AirCool in Action: Real-World Emergency Deployments
In times of crisis, rapid response and dignified care are essential. The Covid-19 pandemic tested both, overwhelming healthcare facilities and pushing decedent storage systems far beyond capacity. Amid these challenges, the Flexmort AirCool proved to be a vital solution for many organisations facing the unimaginable.

Designed for swift deployment and indoor use, the AirCool can be set up virtually anywhere with access to a power supply. During the pandemic, many facilities used the units inside buildings or shelters, keeping operations out of the public eye and helping preserve the dignity of the deceased. Some hospitals even repurposed closed wards to house multiple AirCool units, extending capacity without resorting to outdoor trailers or compromising care.
Beyond the pandemic, AirCool units have played a crucial role in responding to mass casualty incidents. In one example, units were rapidly deployed at a metal recycling plant and demolition site, locations where shielding the scene from media drones was essential to protect the privacy of victims and their families.
In another case, during a long-term morgue failure over a holiday period, a hospital deployed 15 AirCool units in an unused service area. This temporary solution ensured that the team could continue respectful and safe operations despite infrastructure challenges.

The Bariatric AirCool, developed in direct response to the growing need for appropriate bariatric storage, has also proven critical. Rather than modifying the standard unit, Flexmort engineered a bespoke solution from the ground up. Designed to accommodate larger deceased individuals with dignity and ease. The bariatric system features:
- A capacity of 256 kg (564 lbs)
- A wider aperture (1015 mm x 2560 mm / 40” x 101”)
- Four roller tracks per level
- An extra-large aluminum tray for ease of handling
Today, AirCool units are used around the world by healthcare providers, emergency services, NGOs, and governments—including deployments in Hong Kong, Qatar, military field hospitals, and more.
These real-world examples demonstrate how the AirCool continues to support emergency planning and crisis response, ensuring that dignity, safety, and professionalism remain central to care—even under the most difficult circumstances.
