The CuddleBlanket enables bereavement care teams to provide a higher level of bereavement care to families without needing to cool the whole room.

In this video, explore how the CuddleBlankets straight forward set up process provides flexibility and efficient cooling within a matter of minutes.

Who uses the CuddleBlanket?

Used by hospitals, hospices, and funeral directors worldwide, the CuddleBlanket gently and discreetly cools a deceased infant, child, or adult on a bed, trolley, or in a coffin, preserving their appearance, condition, and dignity.

This gift of time allows families to keep their loved one close instead of in a mortuary while making funeral arrangements and enables relatives to travel across the country to say their goodbyes.

Do families expect this level of care?

As societal norms, expectations, and cultural attitudes toward death evolve, it becomes increasingly important to offer families the choice to ensure compassionate and dignified end-of-life care services.

Body cooling, plays a crucial role in this process by allowing families more time to say goodbye and make peace with their loved one’s passing. Grief support tools like the CuddleBlanket are used by funeral homes, hospices and hospitals around the world.

As families seek more personalised and meaningful experiences surrounding death, providing options like body cooling helps meet their evolving needs and ensures that they feel supported and respected throughout the bereavement process whilst in your care.

How does it work?

The small cooling unit gently circulates fluid through a cooling pad that can simply be placed on top of the body.

The CuddleBlanket utilises a thermoelectric cooling process rather than standard refrigeration. This process is also known as the Peltier effect.

Unlike refrigerated beds or coffin coolers, the CuddleBlanket is extremely light, portable, flexible and does not ice up.

As a cost effective individual body cooling solution, the CuddleBlanket is only switched on when required, and therefore more cost effective than other cooling alternatives.

For use in hospices and at home

Some families wish to spend time with their loved ones after death either at home or in the hospice, rather than at a funeral home or mortuary.

The portable CuddleBlanket can be used to turn any bed into a refrigerated bed and allows bodies to be cooled whilst in bed, thereby preserving their appearance, condition and dignity.

NHS Palliative Guidance states that cooling of the deceased should begin within 2 to 4 hours of death. Historically, this has meant transfer to the mortuary or the use of a cold room where grieving is an unpleasant experience. This guidance recognises the use of the cooling blanket as an effective alternative.

The Flexmort CuddleBlanket is compact and mobile and fortunately for us nurses really easy to put together! It absolutely did the job we purchased it for, was unobtrusive and allowed us to let relatives say a proper unhurried goodbye to their loved one. Great product.

For use in hospitals

Some families wish to sit with the deceased on a ward or in the Chapel of Rest. The CuddleBlanket allows bodies to be cooled whilst in bed, thereby preserving their appearance, condition and dignity.

For use in Funeral Homes

The CuddleBlanket allows funeral directors to cool a body in a coffin or on a trolley and is ideal for small sites without the space or need for purpose-built refrigeration. Unlike coffin coolers, the insulated cover will not ice and because it is fully flexible, it can also be used to make a refrigerated bed.

The mortuary blanket can also be used in a vehicle to cool the deceased during transportation.
