Flexmort becomes the main website sponsor for AAPT

Flexmort have become the official sponsor of AAPT from June 2023 to June 2024, cementing a long-time partnership.

The Association of Anatomical Pathology Technology (AAPT) is the recognised professional body for anatomical pathology technologists employed in hospital and public mortuaries across the United Kingdom. They also welcome equivalent anatomical pathology technologists from overseas.

Formed in 2003 with support from the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS), Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH), the AAPT is acknowledged as the principal voice for the profession by all major stakeholders allied to anatomical pathology technology.

The AAPT is committed to working with the appropriate authorities and organisations to help ensure, and improve, the professional, educational and practical standards for technologists across the United Kingdom and beyond. Policy is driven by an elected Council and its subsequent committees and members are encouraged to become involved in this process.

The Department of Health has approached the AAPT to comment on every major consultation document relating to death, bereavement, post-mortem consent and pandemic planning. As a member of the Royal College of Pathologists Workforce Advisory Group, the AAPT is leading the way to develop qualifications fit for purpose and also has representation on the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) APT Examination Board.

Strong links have been developed with the Health Professions Council, Voluntary Registration Council, Home Office, Academy for Healthcare Science, Human Tissue Authority and many other relevant bodies.

A major date of each year is the AAPT Conference. This informative meeting provides a stimulating lecture programme often with renowned speakers. It also allows opportunity to network with other delegates.

The AAPT also organises one day seminars on relevant specific themes on matters relating to anatomical pathology technology.

See their events page for further information.

AAPT Council Secretary Christian Burt said “Flexmort has been a Company Member of the AAPT for many years and has not missed one Annual Educational Event in that time. I am delighted that Steve and the team will be in Milton Keynes for AEE 2023 and that they are our new main website sponsor this year.”

Steve Huggins, Commercial Director at Flexmort said, “Having had such a strong association with the AAPT as a supplier for many years we are proud to become the official sponsor. My colleague William and I look forward to seeing you all in Milton Keynes”
